England’s third One-Day International against South Africa in Johannesburg on Sunday, 9th February will see both teams wear limited edition pink kits in aid of charity.
The New Balance kits form part of Cricket South Africa’s ninth annual #PinkDay, a day full of activities to help raise funds for charity. This year’s proceeds will go towards the Breast Cancer Care Unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg.
However, for the first time in #PinkDay history, both teams will be sporting a pink kit after England also pledged their support to the cause.
Captain Eoin Morgan’s men will sport an adapted version of their current ODI and triumphant 2019 New Balance Cricket World Cup jerseys, with pink collars, cuffs and stripes across the shoulders.
Liam Burns, Head of Cricket at New Balance, said: “Pink Day is an amazing initiative and as the supplier to both Cricket South Africa and the ECB, we are only too happy to help them to commemorate the day and help raise vital funds.
“We have been proud to supply South Africa with pink jerseys for the past four years and to have both teams stepping out in special jerseys for the first time will be a special moment. Hopefully, it will encourage people to dig deep and support this wonderful charity and tradition.”
England men’s ODI cricketer and New Balance ambassador Joe Root said: “It’s going to be a huge honour for us as a team to take part in the Pink Day celebrations this year. Every year we see the great work Pink Day does in raising money for brilliant causes and it will be great to see both sides stepping out in special New Balance kits on the day. To be the first opposition team to join the cause is going to be really special and we’re looking forward to playing our part in raising funds for these incredibly important charities.”
