Freight Emissions Reduction Strategy
Entered by Humankind Comms
How do you grow an international championship while continuing to reduce your emissions? However, growth does not have to come at the cost of sustainability. In fact, through efficiency savings and new innovations both can be championed. As freight represents nearly 75% of all emissions for the electric racing championship, efficiencies have to be found within this area. That’s why Formula E was able to reduce its freight emissions by 25% by reducing its cargo plane fleet from just three planes to 2, sourcing more critical equipment locally and using tech systems to find every efficiency possible. Formula E was able to save 6,000 tons of emissions from entering the environment, representing a 25% emissions saving from its freight emissions. With only critical and very high value equipment being flown between races, while all other freight is transported via sea freight leveraging sustainable fuels, or is procured locally.
