Green Football (GF) unleashes the power of football to tackle climate change and protect nature, bringing together fans, grassroots teams, professional clubs, leagues, schools and the wider football community to take action. In 2024 the campaign focused on food, encouraging the UK to eat more veg for health, nutritional and climate-related reasons. The campaign reached 30 million people – helping fans understand why climate is relevant to their lives and the sport they love, and creating engaging actions to encourage fans to adopt environmentally-friendly habits (86% of fans said it made them more likely to take climate-friendly action in their own lives). It worked with 115 professional clubs, supporting them to showcase their existing sustainability work, host ‘greener games’ and make more ambitious commitments on climate. It also supported players to speak out on an issue they are often nervous to talk about, with more than 100 backing the campaign.
