2024 TCS London Marathon
The 2024 TCS London Marathon, the most popular marathon on the planet and the world’s biggest annual one day fundraising event, was the most successful edition in the 44-year history of the event. On Sunday 21 April 2024, a record number of 53,875 participants completed the famous 26.2 miles from Greenwich to The Mall, shattering London’s existing world record by raising an incredible £73.5 million for charity, led home by Peres Jepchirchir (Kenya) who set a new women’s-only world record. Five days later, London broke another of its own world records with a staggering total of 840,000 people applying for a place in the ballot for 2025, an increase of 43% on the previous year which was the existing world record. One of London’s founding aims is “To have fun and provide some happiness and a sense of achievement in a troubled world”. The 2024 TCS London Marathon truly delivered.
