Growing up, I was a huge football fan with a strong passion for photography. So when I get the opportunity to photograph games like the Carabao Cup Final, I feel beyond grateful.  Since my first job in 2012, I have had the privilege of photographing several league cup finals since and it is safe to say that the feeling just doesn’t get old. This year, the final consisted of Manchester United going head-to-head with Newcastle United to determine who would take home the cup.

One of my favourite things about photographing a final like this is that you can truly see how much it means to the fans. The atmosphere in Wembley was electric and the clear line dividing the black and white flags and the red scarves just amplified how much both teams wanted the victory. Photographing the crowds almost proves to be as much fun as photographing the players on days like this. The energy was completely contagious, no matter what side you were on.

Unfortunately for Newcastle, its 57 year-long wait to lift a trophy goes on, whilst Manchester celebrates its first cup success under manager Erik ten Hag. Manchester United proved they were the better side when the team scored two goals inside six minutes in the first half, leaving Newcastle in a tricky position to come back from. Newcastle really showed up for the second half, alongside their fans cheering them on. But it wasn’t enough to claim the trophy.’
