THE HOME OF AFC RICHMOND!

Selhurst Park (home of AFC Richmond, of course) is a tricky place to work. We are given positions along the touchline opposite the dugouts, and we maintain a distance of 5 metres from other photographers to prevent overcrowding in the corners.
But I never shirk from a challenge!
My spot for this particular match was at one end of the pitch — my peers mainly congregated near the Chelsea fans at the other end of the touchline. However, with the assistant referee there, I chose a spot at the “home” end.
I like shots like this when they work out, especially if the match is tight as this one was until Chelsea scored twice in injury time. Despite the temptation to work on a bigger lens to capture the potential goal, from a photographic perspective, a picture like the one captured is much more pleasing to take as it gives context to the scene. My ideal shot would have been a left-footed player taking an out-swinging corner so that he was facing me but I can’t deny that I like this powerful image from the night.
