TheSPORTbible attracted a record 2.1 million unique viewers to its live Facebook broadcast of Tuesday’s England table tennis fixture.
The broadcast of England Leopards European qualifying tie against Greece was broadcast digitally on Facebook Live following a partnership between Table Tennis England and TheLADbible Group.
The stream-only broadcast created a UK digital viewing record, marking a first both for sports governing bodies in England and digital publisher TheSPORTbible (whose reach of 100m a week makes it more popular than websites such as the Daily Mail).

Mark Taffler, head of commercial, Table Tennis England said: “We proved last night that there is a market for this kind of broadcast – and that it’s a big market. By broadcasting through TheSPORTbible we’ve bypassed the traditional sports rights market and gone to where the audience is. As a strategy, it’s proved incredibly effective.
“The same night as Manchester City were playing Barcelona in the Champions League, there were 2.1 million people watching table tennis. There is an appetite from people to watch our sport and, through a platform like TheSPORTbible, we are finding them.”
