Aberdeen Asset Management has extended its deal with the Scottish Open to remain as the title sponsor of the golf tournament through to 2020.
As part of the three-year extension with the financial services company, the tournament’s prize fund is set to rise from £3 million in 2014 to a minimum of £4 million by 2018.
The Scottish Open, won this year by England’s Justin Rose, also received a commitment from the Scottish government worth £1 million per year until 2020.
Martin Gilbert, chief executive of AAM, said of the deal: ‘The tournament continues to grow in stature as more players travel to Scotland to play a links course the week before The Open Championship and the sponsorship continues to deliver excellent global brand awareness for us especially through the TV coverage in the US, a key market for us.’
