Aberdeen’s departure from Pittodrie for a new state of the art stadium is becoming ever more likely after the Scottish Premier League club revealed that it had received a number of offers for its current home.

Planning permission for 350 homes on the site of Pittodrie has been secured, with the sale of the 13.7 acre site an important part of the club’s plans to raise £38 million to build a state of the art 21,000-seater stadium.

The new stadium is expected to be based at Loirston Loch and the club hopes it will be ready for the 2013/14 season.

Derren McRae, associate director of real estate firm CBRE’s Aberdeen office, said: ‘We are now at a stage of giving full consideration to the offers received and are in further detailed discussions with the parties who have offered with respect to the various conditions attached to the proposals.

‘Due to the complexity and conditionality of the bids, as is the norm in any residential site sale of this size, it is likely to take a number of weeks to get to the stage of commencing legal negotiations with a preferred bidder.’

Aberdeen have played at Pittodrie for more than 100 years.
