Aberdeen Standard Investments, one of the world’s largest investment companies, has been named as a new Category Partner of the Sport Industry Awards, backing the Tessa Jowell Social and Environmental Impact Award.

The agreement sees Aberdeen Standard Investments support this vitally important award category, which seeks to honour organisations working in sport that are committed to driving community, environmental, diversity or inclusion action for all.

Aberdeen Standard Investments is committed to responsible investing, with its ESG approach (environmental, social and governance) underpinning all investment activities and aligning it perfectly with the Tessa Jowell Social and Environmental Impact Award.

As well as having one of the largest Responsible Investing teams in the asset management industry, Aberdeen Standard Investments is also a leading supporter of sport. The asset manager is proud to sponsor the Scottish Open on the men’s and ladies’ golf tours and has been introducing sustainability initiatives such as reducing plastic waste, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through sport and supporting educational programmes in Scottish schools.

The award itself will be announced at the sport industry’s biggest night of the year at Evolution London on Thursday 3rd September.

Amanda Young, Global Head of Responsible Investment, Aberdeen Standard Investments, said:

“As an active, long-term and responsible investor, Aberdeen Standard Investments takes our stewardship responsibilities very seriously. Through our stewardship activities we integrate environmental, social & governance (ESG) factors into our investment process across our business.

The sport industry is taking a leading role in considering these factors and this award provides an ideal opportunity to highlight this. It is an honour for Aberdeen Standard Investments to be associated with this great event and we wish all shortlisted nominees the very best of luck.”

Alex Coulson, Managing Director, Sport Industry Group, added:

“This category really gets the industry talking and is always eagerly followed within the social and environmental space. We’ve seen this year throughout the Judging Process that organisations across our industry are waking up to the importance of impact, and it’s great that Aberdeen Standard Investments is helping honour and celebrate their fantastic work.”

The Sport Industry Awards celebrate the work done behind the scenes of the sport sector, honouring the clubs, teams, brands, agencies and innovators that ensure the industry continues to move forward and excel.
