Absolute Radio is continuing to develop its Rock ‘N’ Roll Football
brand, starting with the re-signing of host Ian Wright for the 2012/2013
Barclays Premier League football season.
The new deal will now see the former Arsenal and England striker extending his show from 5 – 7pm every Saturday afternoon.
?Ian
Wright’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Football’ offers Absolute Radio listeners post
match analysis, and entertainment – combining football, music and
comedy.
He features on Absolute Radio and Absolute Radio extra,
the station’s red button service, with guests in 2011 including Harry
Redknapp, Joey Barton, Noel Gallagher, Piers Morgan, Gareth Bale, Frank
Lampard, John Lydon, David Seaman and James Corden.
?Ian Wright
follows pre-match build up with Russ Williams from 1.30pm, with
commentary on a selected Barclays Premier League fixture at 3pm from Jim
Proudfoot. Both Russ and Jim have also signed extended contracts.
As
of January 2012 Wright is set to host a music driven football preview
show every Saturday morning from 9-11am on new digital service, Absolute
Radio 70s.
The station has asked listeners to name the new
programme by creating a poll on the Absolute Radio Facebook page, with
listeners voting on two choices – Rock ‘N’ Soul Football or Saturday
Wright Fever.
?Absolute Radio’s head of presentation Paul
Sylvester, said: ‘We are extremely pleased with how Rock ‘N’ Roll
football has grown and Ian Wright is integral to its success.’
‘Wrighty
is a joy to work with and the decision to extend his show and develop
his presence at the station with new slots on Absolute Radio and
Absolute Radio 70s was a was a no brainer for us.’
