England Netball Chief Executive Joanna Adams will leave the body later this year to become the first Chief Commercial Officer at the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC).
Adams has spent almost 10 years at England Netball, first joining as Commercial Director before serving as Chief Executive for four and a half years. During her time with the body, Adams has overseen record growth in England Netball’s participation programmes, sponsorship deals and ticket revenues.
Adams was also part of the team behind England’s gold medal win at last year’s Commonwealth Games and helped secure hosting rights to this year’s World Cup in Liverpool.
England Netball Chairman Colin Povey said: “Joanna has built a strong and experienced executive team which provides excellent leadership across all aspects of our operation.
“The search for her successor has already begun and I am confident the role will be attractive to a range of strong candidates. Once appointed, the new CEO will have the opportunity to bring their influence to bear on an already successful strategy and will continue to build on the momentum England Netball has built up under Joanna’s leadership. Joanna will be missed but we wish her all the best for the future.”
In her new role at the LLDC, Adams will help realise the commercial potential of London’s Olympic Park and venues, including London Stadium. The role is a newly-created role one for the LLDC and Adams will work alongside teams at the Olympic Park and other venues to maximise the commercial opportunities from the events and assets.
Adams said: “The Copper Box Arena became the home of England Netball and I have seen first-hand what the Park has to offer – it is exciting to be part of that. Every month there are millions around the world watching events at the Stadium and Park venues on television and through digital channels. That, in addition to the millions of visitors coming here every year, present incredible opportunities.”
