Adidas And Lionel Messi Launch Campaign To Inspire The Next Generation

Ahead of the second round Champions League group stage fixtures, adidas and PSG forward Lionel Messi partnered up to celebrate football by placing thousands of exclusive balls all over the Ile-de-France region.

The idea set out to inspire young people to believe in their dreams and the opportunities that football and sports can open for them.

On the day of PSG’s home game against Manchester City, balls will be placed in strategic spots in different Parisian neighborhoods (Barbès, République, Châtelet and Champs Elysées) and in the suburbs (Evry, Nanterre, Boulogne, Argenteuil, etc.).

More specifically, the 2,200 balls will be distributed among 17 towns, including 4 places in Paris, and there will be around a hundred balls in each location. Overall, the entire Ile-de-France area will be covered, including some iconic football places, such as the now famous Evry Skylight, the Place de la République in Paris or the new adidas playground recently unveiled in Nanterre.

The event features a special film starring the iconic Lionel Messi. This work, created by Buzzman agency’s teams, highlights the importance and role of football for young people, while showcasing its universal appeal and the unique passion it inspires in all generations. The event organized by adidas follows Lionel Messi’s idea “It doesn’t matter who believes in you, when you believe in yourself“.

The six-time ballon D’Or winner added, “Whether it be in a stadium in front of thousands of spectators or alone in my garden, when I touch the ball I invariably feel the same joy and passion I experienced at the very beginning of my career. A ball is all I need to start dreaming about something greater. Through this event I hope to reach out to the young generations and inspire them to follow their dreams, because nothing is impossible”.
