UK Athletics has announced an extension of its partnership with adidas for the next five years.
The shoe company will continue as the official sports apparel provider to the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team, official sponsor of UKA’s Major Events Series, and supplier to UK Athletics officials and volunteers.
The contract requires adidas kit to be worn by Team GB at next year’s major championships and team events, including the European Indoors in Turin and the World Championships in Berlin.
Despite the recent problems surrounding Olympic lottery funding cuts for UK athletics, Niels de Vos, chief executive for UKA, said the deal with adidas illustrated the strong position the sport is in as it looks ahead to London 2012.
