adidas has marked the first day of Wimbledon by revealing what British number one Andy Murray will wear during this year’s Championships, while announcing a multi-million pound extension to its kit deal with Chelsea Football Club.
The Barclays Premier League side will now have their kit designed by the German brand until at least 2023, remaining the Blues’ official sponsor and sportswear supplier for the next decade.
Chelsea’s chief executive Ron Gourlay said in a statement: ‘We are delighted to extend our partnership until 2023 after a highly successful first seven seasons. Both organisations share the same ethos and ambition and the new deal reaffirms Adidas’ belief in the club’s status in world football.’
adidas, which has supplied kit to the west London club since 2006, launched a campaign called ‘It’s blue, what else matters’ earlier this year. The campaign, designed to preview Chelsea’s new 2013/14 kit, featured several players covered head to toe in blue paint without actually revealing the kit itself.

Herbert Hainer, adidas’ chief executive, added: ‘Both Adidas and Chelsea FC have a long and proud heritage in football and we are delighted to continue our working relationship with one of Europe’s elite football clubs.’
‘We look forward to many more years of success, working closely with the club on product, marketing and grassroots initiatives in the UK and around the globe.’
Meanwhile, Andy Murray will take the Wimbledon court in a classic all-white shirt, short and jacket combination offering ultimate comfort, premium materials and a tailored fit.
The new addition to Murray’s look is the pre-match jacket which he will wear before each of his matches on court.
Alongside his new kit, Andy Murray will also be starring in a new social campaign designed to reward fans around his on court performances at SW19.
Living on @adidasUK, fans will see a visual of the grid style court and using #hitthewinner to select a grid reference, fans can follow Murray’s matches and guess which point on the court he will hit his winner from. Each correct guess will reward that fan with a spot prize, including tickets to his next game, adidas kit and limited edition footwear.
