Middlesbrough has appointed former Football Association executive Adrian Bevington as the club’s new head of recruitment operations, heading up a restructured transfer operation for the Championship side.
According to the club, Bevington will be overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the department, with former player Gary Gill retaining his current role as Boro’s head of recruitment.
Bevington, born in Middlesbrough and a lifelong Boro fan, was managing director of Club England from 2010 to 2014 and spent 17 years at the FA.
The 47-year-old was also on the Aston Villa board in 2016 to help advise and oversee the changing of owners.
Boro manager Tony Pulis will continue to have a major say over transfer matters, according to media reports, and is expected to oversee a number of changes to the squad in the wake of last week’s play-off semi-final defeat.
Middlesbrough reached the play-offs this season after finishing 5th, but lost 1-0 over two legs against fellow promotion-chasers, Aston Villa.
