The All England Club has confirmed plans to expand Henman Hill by 20% ahead of the 2027 Wimbledon Championships, subject to approval.

The All England Club has submitted plans to redevelop Henman Hill, increasing its capacity by 20% and improving accessibility in time for Wimbledon’s 150th anniversary in 2027. The proposal remains subject to approval.

The hill, an unofficial fan zone located outside the main show courts, has served as a popular viewing area for spectators without stadium tickets. The redevelopment forms part of a broader effort to upgrade facilities across the Wimbledon estate.

The proposed changes follow the club’s 2023 approval to expand the tournament grounds with 39 additional courts on neighbouring land. That expansion has marked a significant shift in Wimbledon’s long-term development strategy.

The project timeline aligns with the growing demand for public viewing spaces at major sporting events, particularly in the UK, where fan zones have become a fixture at tournaments including The Ashes and the UEFA European Championships.
