Alex Thomson Racing has secured a partnership with energy drink brand, Rich Energy. Alex Thomson Racing will use the new British energy drink, made with Alpine mineral water, to fuel the Alex Thomson Racing Team as they prepare for the start of the Vendée Globe on the 6th November.
The Vendée Globe is a non-stop, unassisted race around the globe and on average will take 26,000 nautical miles to complete. Just 71 of the 138 starters since the event began (in 1989) have made the finish, and three have lost their lives along the way. The nature of the race means that Alex has to deprioritise basic human needs whilst racing solo around the world.
Rich Energy is a UK energy drink made with pure Alpine mineral water which has developed over the last six years. Rich Energy sponsor extreme sports athletes and events including F3 drivers, TT races, world champion boxers, endurance races, surfing, aviation and varied technologies in sport.
CEO of Alex Thomson Racing, Stewart Hosford said: “Rich Energy fits perfectly with our existing sponsors. They are a company and brand that share our ambitions and goals- success. Our partnership with Rich Energy drinks could not have come at a better time. The team are currently working round the clock to achieve 100% performance in preparation for the Vendée Globe.”
William Storey from Rich Energy commented: “Our team at Rich Energy are extremely excited to be working with Alex Thomson Racing. Alex is one of the most exciting and successful yachtsmen of his generation and we are honoured to be able to help him on his quest to become the first British Sailor to win the Vendée Globe.”
