Warwickshire and England cricket legend Dennis Amiss has been elected as deputy
chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The 64-year old Amiss who scored 3,612 runs in 50 Tests, beat Lancashire
chairman Jack Simmons by eight votes to seven, with one county abstaining.
Amiss will now be put forward to the ECB’s 41 members for endorsement as
deputy to new ECB chairman Giles Clarke.
Clarke beat out previous ECB deputy chairman Mike Soper to the post prompting
the latter’s immediate resignation.
The endorsement process for Amiss will conclude on 16th November, with the
term of office running until 31st March 2010.
