The Associated Press (AP) has been selected as a global content distribution provider for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, set to widen coverage for the event.
AP will distribute photos, video and other content to the world’s media via its images website and commercial sales divisions of AP, and AP Mobile.
Commenting on the arrangement, AP Images Product Manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa James Claydon said: ‘With multi-platform access to thousands of daily newspapers, radio, television and online customers, we believe that only AP can offer such a massive project a truly global and all-media solution.’
With AP offering the series a huge boost coverage wise the Volvo series will be looking to secure more partners ahead of its launch to extend its global reach confirmed marketing and communications manager Pedro Galvan Paris.
‘We are in negotiations with several other distributors and will be confirming their appointment later this year and early in to next year.’
