Champion jockey AP McCoy has signed a new partnership to become an exclusive columnist for The Times newspaper.

As part of the deal, negotiated by his management company Lloyd Burns Management, he will write a regular racing column whilst he is still a jockey, continuing into his retirement.

The 19-time Champion jockey, who has previously written for The Daily Telegraph, announced his plans to retire from the sport at the end of the season earlier this month.

He will continue until almost certainly becoming champion jockey for the 20th consecutive occasion at the end of the season with no crucial races, such as the Grand National, Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle, missing from his CV.

AP will preview the jump and flat racing seasons and provide some video content for The Times online.

As part of the deal, he will also attend Times Plus events, including the Cheltenham Literary Festival.

The Times has this morning published AP’s first column – an exclusive preview of the Cheltenham Festival, which begins on 10th March.
