Applied Nutrition has confirmed plans for an initial public offering (IPO) in London later this week, allowing ordinary investors to partake in a £500m flotation of the Liverpool-based brand.

The offering will be run by RetailBook, inviting prospective investors in the UK to take part in the float.

The company produces nutrition supplements for professional athletes and gym enthusiasts.

Applied Nutrition serves as the nutrition partner of a number of English football clubs, including Premier League side Fulham, Cardiff City, Plymouth Argyle and Bolton Wanderers.

In a statement, the company’s Founder and CEO Thomas Ryder said, ‘Since launching our first Applied Nutrition product just over ten years ago, we have demonstrated a consistent track record of delivering strong profitable growth, becoming a trusted, premium sports nutrition, health and wellness brand in an industry that continues to grow at pace.

We are only scratching the surface of our growth opportunity and this IPO positions us ideally for the next step of our development.’

Distributing its intention to float document will allow shares in Applied Nutrition to begin trading before the budget in October, when UK Chancelloe Rachel Reeves is forecast to considerably increase capital gains tax gains (CGT).

Applied Nutrition has received backing from high-profile investors, such as Peter Cowgill, the ex-CEO of JD Sports Fashion, who oversaw the purchase of a substantial stake in the business.

Cowgill had formerly been a non-executive director on Applied Nutrition’s board but stepped down following his departure from JD Sports in 2022.

Applied Nutrition has also named Andy Bell, founder of the London-listed investment platform AJ Bell, as its chairman, strengthening its position ahead of the IPO, which is being managed by bankers from Deutsche Numis.
