Glasgow 2014 has announced Arena Group as an Official Overlay and Temporary Structures Provider for next year’s Commonwealth Games, in the latest in a series of infrastructure-related agreements by the organising committee.

The UK-based company will provide temporary seating across Glasgow’s venues ahead of the event, which begins on 23rd July.

Arena UK & Europe’s sales and marketing director Dave Withey said: ‘It is very exciting to be involved in yet another global sporting event right here in the UK which will showcase the strength, skill and world leading standards of the UK event industry.’

Arena Group has previously fulfilled a similar role for events including the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the Ryder Cup. At last year’s London Olympics it was responsible for overlay at several venues, including Horse Guards Parade, for beach volleyball, and the Mall, for road cycling and the marathon events.

Ty Speer, Glasgow 2014 deputy chief executive, added: ‘Getting overlay right at venues is a vital component towards the delivery of a successful Commonwealth Games and we are delighted that Arena Group is joining our Sponsor Family.’

‘They are a UK company whose experienced team have a proven track record in temporary event overlay at a range of major global sporting and cultural events.’
