Hansa Pilsener beer has agreed new partnerships with Manchester City and Arsenal FC to become the official beer partner of the Premier League sides in South Africa, who will face each other in the curtain raiser of the 2014/15 season, the Community Shield, at Wembley Stadium this weekend.

First launched in South Africa as a light alternative to lager in 1975, Hansa has previously been voted as the most popular beer in South Africa in a Sunday Times survey.

Signing similar deals, the brand will have sole rights to use official Arsenal marks in the country on promotional materials, and will give its consumers the chance to win signed Arsenal merchandise and trips to the Emirates Stadium.

The beer will also be given the rights to produce television adverts with several of Manchester City’s players, in addition to featuring the Club’s crest and player imagery in marketing campaigns throughout the region.

Commenting on the partnership, chief business officer for Manchester City, Tom Glick, said: ‘Hansa has a special relationship with South African City fans and has been part of their match-day experience in pubs and supporters clubs across the country for many years.  Their brand vision to inspire people to achieve their dreams, make them the perfect fit for Manchester City, and we are looking forward to helping them to achieve this goal.’

‘Having visited South Africa twice on pre-season tours in the last six years, the country’s passion and love of the game is clear for all to see. We have always enjoyed great support from fans in the region and through this partnership; both organisations will now be able to deliver a more exciting football experience for City supporters and Hansa customers alike.’

‘We are delighted to welcome Hansa Pilsener to the club as an official partner,’ added Arsenal sales and marketing director Vinai Venkatesham. ‘We are always looking to engage with our supporters and fans of the game globally, and through this partnership we will be able to offer exclusive access to the club while giving Hansa Pilsener the opportunity to reach our millions of supporters in South Africa through creative digital media campaigns.’
