Aruna Media AG has signed a deal with FIFA ahead of the World Cup with the media company announcing the acquisition of worldwide 3D cinema and entertainment venue rights for live games at this summer’s tournament in South Africa.
The main focus of Aruna Media AG will be to market the games and manage the transfer of live matches to digital cinemas and selected venues in 3D HD quality around the world.
Certain cinema venues across the world will be showing 25 games from the tournament in 3D – with seven dedicated camera’s filming the action.
Aruna Media AG Managing Director Justin Ackerman thinks demand for tickets will be high: ‘We want this to be exclusive, with full theaters, so we are approaching a limited number of cinemas to ensure they are sold out and the match-day experience is authentic. We are expecting great demand for tickets.’
South Africa’s opening match against Mexico on June 11th will become the first ever World Cup match broadcast in 3D.
