ASICS has become the latest sportswear brand to announce a new CEO.
Amid a series of shake-ups, the running specialist has announced that Alistair Cameron – who has been CEO of ASICS EMEA since 2009 – has decided to leave the company and has been replaced in the role by Carsten Unbehaun, who has been at the company since 2002.
Unbehaun will lead the ASICS’ EMEA set-up through what the company describes as a ‘challenging market situation’, having held a number of senior management roles within the business. Most recently Unbehaun served as CEO of ASICS-owned outdoor brand Haglofs, but has also been ASICS’ Managing Director, Central Europe.
The news comes amid further internal changes at ASICS EMEA, who will welcome Masashi Abe as Executive Vice President from 1st January. Abe will move from ASICS HQ in Kobe, Japan, having previously worked across European assignments, most recently as General Manager of the brand’s Geography Strategy Division.
Hokuto Nakano, Director ASICS Corporation said: “Since 2009, Alistair [Cameron] has led the business in what has been both an extremely challenging and changing time in our industry.”
“For over a decade, he has made untold contributions and played an integral part in laying the foundations to build our brand in a key region for our future success. We thank him for his loyal service to ASICS.”
