Aston Villa have followed in the footsteps of Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton by signing a new partnership with Japanese mobile content provider CWS Brains.
In a deal the Premier League club described as ‘lucrative’, the deal will allow Japanese fans to download Aston Villa news, ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers and videos. It comes after Villa signed a £16 million two-year shirt sponsorship deal with Malaysian company Genting and took part in the Barclays Asia Trophy this summer.
‘We remain as committed as ever to building Aston Villa’s fan base internationally as well as locally,’ said Russell Jones, Aston Villa’s head of marketing. ‘Thanks to the reach of the Premier League, our supporter club network, new sponsors Genting and our participation in the Barclays Asia Trophy, we have seen a very rapid and recent growth in our Asian fan base.
‘We are delighted to have secured a deal with CWS Brains as the partnership will provide yet another platform to engage with our fans in Asia.’
