The first race of the London 2012 Anniversary Games was over in little over an hour, as tickets for the first two days of this summer’s athletics event sold out in just 75 minutes.

Tickets went on sale to people signed up for priority booking at 10:00 BST on Friday and sold out in record time for a British Diamond League meeting – however, tickets for the IPC International Challenge on 28th July are still on offer.

Usain Bolt is among 29 London 2012 medallists, including Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford, confirmed to compete at the Olympic Stadium on 26th and 27th July.

Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt was announced last week, after a tax exemption for overseas athletes was introduced into the budget last year.

Around 60,000 tickets were available for each day of the event, which will double as the 2013 London Grand Prix – a two-day meeting which usually takes place at Crystal Palace – with a day of Paralympic events included on the Sunday.

The second day will coincide with the one-year anniversary of the opening ceremony of London 2012.

For many athletes, it will mark the final stages of preparation for the World Athletics Championships in Moscow two weeks later, on 10th August.
