The 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals welcomed a record-breaking 263,560 fans across eight days of competition at The O2 in London, with nine of the 15 sessions a 17,800 sell-out.

Despite the last-minute drop out of Roger Federer in the final, the 2014 event becomes the best-attended tournament in its 45-year history, surpassing the previous record of 263,229, set in 2012.

The total six-year attendance since the event moved to London in 2009 now stands at 1,548,245.

This year’s tournament saw World No.1 Novak Djokovic become the third player in history to capture three consecutive year-end titles, after Ilie Nastase (1971-73) and Ivan Lendl (1985-87). In doubles, No.1 team Bob and Mike Bryan captured their 103rd team trophy.

Records were also broken in the broadcast world, with the best ever audiences online for the event, which was televised by 56 different broadcasters in 195 territories.

Meanwhile, fans visited the ATP’s digital platforms in excess of 19 million times during the eight days of the tournament, a 37% increase on 2013.

‘The O2 in London continues to provide a terrific home for our season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals,’ said Chris Kermode, ATP Executive Chairman & President.

‘The support that the tournament gets from fans in the UK and worldwide has been phenomenal and we’re delighted to have set both new attendance and digital viewership records this year.’

The tournament will be held at The O2 in London through until 2015, however its future is yet to be decided beyond that, with a number of other regions interested in hosting the event.
