Bahrain is believed to have struck a deal keeping the venue on the F1 Grand Prix
circuit for a further five years with the new contract running until 2013.
The deal, which replaces the current hosting contract which expires after the
2008 season, ensures the long-term future of the Bahrain circuit at Sakhir on
the F1 calendar.
Bahrain was added to the sport’s calendar in April 2004 as part of F1 supremo
Bernie Ecclestone’s plans to expand the circuit into the Far East.
Rumours are circulating that this expansion will also include the
introduction of Abu Dhabi as a host venue from 2009.
