Gareth Bale is set to launch a new rowing-driven fitness concept, after Rowbots secured its first studio site in central London.
The Real Madrid star has teamed up with the likes of Stellar Group director Joshua Barnett and marketing specialist Greg Zimmerman to become a joint partner and investor in the start-up, which will open its first studio in Fitzrovia this summer.
The Rowbots concept is inspired by the transhumanism philosophy and employs rowing and dynamic floor exercises to create a complete work-out, which maximises on the potential of the mind and body.
Bale considers rowing as an integral part of his own training routine. His fellow co-founder and Rowbots CEO Sam Green explained: “Our objective is to empower our customers to be strong both physically and mentally, utilising the incredible power of rowing which works 85% of the body. Right now, London has nothing like this concept.
“Amid the rise in boutique fitness studios, we noticed this gap in the UK market for a complete workout which both invigorates the body whilst impacting the mind. We have strong aspirations for the future of this concept.”
The first studio will be a 1,800 sq ft industrial-style space, created by Chief Brand and Design Officer Sarah Mannerings.
It will accommodate 11 rowing machines and floor work with a capacity of 22 per class, and plans to run up to 40 classes per week.
