FC Barcelona is reportedly set to announce a three-year deal with music streaming service Spotify that includes sponsorship of the LaLiga club’s home shirts and Camp Nou stadium.
The deal will be worth €280m (£236m), according to Catalan radio station Rac1. Spotify would replace Rakuten as Barcelona’s shirt sponsor and would also become the first naming-rights partner for the club’s famous Camp Nou stadium.
The partnership, which is expected to be announced imminently, would cover Barcelona’s men’s and women’s teams.
Rakuten has served as the main shirt sponsor of Barcelona’s men’s team since 2017. The women’s team’s shirts are currently sponsored by toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker.
The Camp Nou is set to undergo major renovation work as part of the club’s Espai Barça development project. As part of the plans, the stadium’s capacity will increase to 105,000, with work scheduled to begin in the summer and be completed by 2025.
Barcelona has previously confirmed that it has evaluated “various offers” for the naming rights to the revamped Camp Nou, and Spotify is now set to be confirmed as the winning bidder.
The deal will reportedly begin from the start of the 2022/23 season.
