Barclays employees got on their bikes for The Prince’s Trust last week in the 2015 Wheels for Change challenge.

Set up in 2011, Wheels for Change is an annual Barclays employee-led fundraising initiative, which to date has raised more than £1.2 million for charity. This year the event saw more than 400 Barclays employees and client sponsors raising money for The Prince’s Trust.

From 16th to 18th September colleagues from across the business and sponsors including law firms Addleshaw Goddard, Browne Jacobson, Clifford Chance, Eversheds, and Shearman & Sterling, and healthcare provider Nuffield Health took on elements of the 2014 Tour de France route and cycled various cycling routes from Harrogate to London’s Olympic velodrome.

This included a core group of 15 cyclists who completed the three day 325 mile challenge, with an additional one day 100km London loop as available.

Wheels for Change 2015 raised more than £200,000 and is on track to meet the £250,000 target.

The Prince’s Trust, one of Barclays’ UK charity partners, helps young people to develop key skills, confidence and motivation to move into employment, education or training through programmes that provide practical and financial support. The Prince’s Trust specifically focuses on 13 to 30 year olds who are unemployed, struggling at school or at risk of exclusion.

Barclays works with organisations like The Prince’s Trust to support young people and help them to build stronger futures for themselves and their families. This is part of Barclays’ Citizenship strategy – helping the next generation achieve their ambitions.

Last week’s event will be complemented by a Wheels for Change event in Asia this autumn which will see more than 150 participants join a 100km cycling challenge in Singapore; raising money for three local organisations; the Singapore Disability Sports Council, Rainbow Centre and Bizlink Centre.
