The Premier League has signed a new three-year sponsorship with Barclays to become the official bank of England’s top division.
Barclays has been title sponsor of the Premier League since 2001, but will step away from the position at the end of this season after the league announced it would not be continuing with a title sponsor.
Financial details of the deal have not be released, but Barclays joins official ball sponsors Nike and official sports technology partner EA Sports in the division’s new category model of sponsorship.
“We are delighted that we have secured a new deal with the Premier League,” said Barclays’ global head of sponsorship Nathan Homer.
“We are proud to have been the title sponsor of the Barclays Premier League for the last 15 years as it has grown to become a global phenomenon, supporting our businesses around the world, and helping build the Barclays brand.
“The Premier League is moving to a new model without a title sponsor yet we could still see the benefit of maintaining our association with one of the most successful sports brands in the world. The partnership will continue to offer us many assets such as tickets that are valued by our customers and clients, as well as helping maintain our long established commercial relationships with the Premier League and many clubs.
“We look forward to the successful continuation of our partnership with the Premier League.”
