Barclays To Sponsor Sky Sports Rugby Coverage

Barclays Commercial Bank has signed a sponsorship deal with Sky Sports to cover all of the broadcaster’s rugby union coverage for the 2007/08 season.

The deal sees Barclays sponsor Sky Sports’ live and highlights coverage across the Guinness Premiership, Heineken Cup, European Challenge Cup and all international rugby, as well as worldwide domestic competitions including Tri Nations, Super 14, the Air New Zealand Cup, the Currie Cup and The Rugby Club and Total Rugby magazine programmes.

Barclays will receive 15 second spots in all opening and closing title sequences of Sky Sports rugby programmes, plus 5 second break bumpers running either side of all commercial breaks.

The sponsor will also receive on-air logos on Sky Sports’ promotions of its rugby programming and verbal references across the sponsorship period.

Two illustrated idents, one 15 seconds long and the other 5, have been produced by Barclays’ advertising agency BBH for the sponsorship.
