Barclays Turns To Saatchi & Saatchi For Premiership

Barclays has separated out the agency account for the global marketing of its
title sponsorship of the Premier League from its core advertising, inviting
Saatchi & Saatchi to pitch for the business.

Barclays had previously used its incumbent UK agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty for
its FA Premier League advertising work but has now decided to separate such
activity away from its central agency roster.

The bank has asked Saatchi & Saatchi to pitch for a global brief to
promote the sponsorship which, if successful, will see the agency create a
series of sponsorship idents and promotional campaigns to back worldwide
broadcasts of Barclays Premier League football matches.

BBH, which created the last advertising campaign featuring an array of FA
Premier League managers, will continue to work on core advertising for Barclays
in the UK.

Saatchis was appointed to the Barclays roster earlier this year, when it
picked up the account for Barclays Capital, the investment-banking arm of
Barclays plc. The Publicis-owned network was awarded the £20m business following
a final two-way pitch against TBWA\London.
