Scottish Women’s Football has named Barclays as the new title sponsor for the Championship and League One second and third tier divisions.
Although terms of the agreement were not revealed, the deal represents a ‘record-breaking investment’, according to Scottish Women’s Football, after signing a three-year partnership with the UK bank’.
Barclays already has an established presence in women’s football, serving as the title sponsor of the Women’s Super League since 2019, and the Women’s Championship since 2021.
The new three-year partnership highlights the bank’s support for women’s football in Scotland.
“Barclays have played such a pivotal role in the growth of the women’s game south of the border, so it is an exciting moment to welcome their backing for SWF’s ongoing development of the pyramid structure in Scotland,” said Aileen Campbell, CEO of Scottish Women’s Football.
“As a first-ever title sponsor, the support of Barclays will further raise the aspirations and visibility of the women who play in these leagues.”
Koral Anderson, Head of Transformation for Barclays UK and Scotland Site Lead, added, “As one of Scotland’s largest financial services companies, I am proud that Barclays are extending our football sponsorship into Scotland.
“We are committed to supporting thriving local communities through access to sport and are excited to play our part in growing gender diversity in the game.”
