Bath Rugby has appointed sports marketing consultancy eightyone600 and sports production agency Progress Productions to lead on the promotion and staging of ‘The Clash’ at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, 8th April 2017.

Bath Rugby announced last week the club will be relocating its regular season Aviva Premiership match against Leicester Tigers to the home of English rugby.

The founders of eightyone600 and Progress Productions – Jon Duckworth and James O’Brien – were part of the London 2012 and Olympic and Paralympic Games. Both will be lending their expertise to the marketing and production of ‘The Clash’.

Vicki Smith, marketing director, Bath Rugby said: “Moving our match against one of our biggest rivals, Leicester Tigers, to London is a bold statement of our intent to engage with supporters outside of our traditional heartland. Our home games at the Rec sell-out regularly, and we wanted to give supporters from further afield the chance to experience a Bath Rugby matchday on a grand scale.

“We want this to be a fantastic day out for all the family, with a packed-out Twickenham cheering on the teams, so we have enlisted best-in-class support to help us stage a successful event.”

Jon Duckworth, managing partner, eightyone600 added: “Having sold-out Twickenham Stadium on numerous occasions in the past we feel we are well placed to develop a marketing strategy to drive ticket sales for ‘The Clash’.

“We have significant experience of marketing major sports tournaments and events and look forward to working with Bath Rugby to help them realise their ambitions.”

James O’Brien, managing director, Progress Productions commented: “We will be working closely with Bath Rugby to put together a day of epic entertainment which will provide event goers with a full-on day out at Twickenham.

“Whilst rugby is at the heart of the event, we will be planning additional activities and spectacles which will appeal to as broad an audience as possible.”

Bath Rugby has also announced Jack Wills as official formalwear sponsor of the club on a two-year deal. Jack Wills will provide off-pitch clothing for players and has created customised shirts, chinos, coats and boxer shorts in the team’s colours.
