BBC Sport and ITV have secured joint UK broadcast rights for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, keeping the tournament free-to-air for audiences across the UK.
The 2027 edition of the tournament will be the first to be hosted in South America and is scheduled to begin on 24th June 2027, with 32 teams playing 64 matches across eight cities. The final will take place on 25th July 2027.
Under the terms of the deal, the BBC and ITV will share live coverage of the tournament, including both broadcasting the final. Matches will be split between the two broadcasters. ITV will deliver coverage through ITV1, ITV4 and ITVX, while the BBC is set to provide coverage on BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer. Both organisations have also offered digital content across their respective websites, apps, and social media channels.

This collaboration follows a period of growing interest in women’s football in the UK.
ITV’s coverage of England’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 semi-final victory over Italy attracted a peak audience of 10.2 million, marking the broadcaster’s highest-rated sports event of the year. The BBC has continued to report increased reach and engagement across its platforms during recent women’s football tournaments.
Both broadcasters have also retained rights to future major competitions. ITV’s sports portfolio includes the Men’s FIFA World Cups in 2026 and 2030, UEFA Euro 2028, the Six Nations Championship, and the Carabao Cup.
BBC Sport will continued to cover a range of events including the FIFA World Cups, the Olympic Games, UEFA Euro 2028, Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, and the Women’s Super League.
