The BBC has unveiled the promotional trailer for its World Cup coverage with a clip featuring a montage of African wildlife and cultural scenes mixed with shots of the teams and players set to compete in South Africa in June.
Entitled ‘The World Cup from the Rainbow nation’, the 60-second clip will be to used to promote the BBC’s TV coverage ahead of the 11th June kick-off of the tournament.
The clip, which features the song Soviet Science by little-known London band the Dallas Guild, will also be used for the BBC’s on-air titles during the tournament, as will as online and across radio.
Made by the WPP-owned ad agency RKCR, the promo ‘strives to showcase South Africa’s rich heritage, the diversity of the competing countries and bring to life, through colour, the emotions of the many fans, players and nations taking part in the spectacle’, according to the BBC.
