The BBC has resolved its ongoing disagreement with the Board of Control for Cricket, which had threatened to disrupt Test Match Special’s plans to broadcast from the grounds during England’s tour to India.
The BCCI reportedly demanded that the BBC pay an extra £50,000 to cover the cost of broadcasting facilities. However, according to media reports, the broadcaster refused to pay the additional sum claiming that the costs were unreasonable and were not included in their original broadcasting agreement with the BCCI.
TMS producer Adam Mountford said: ‘We are pleased to confirm that Test Match Special will broadcast England’s cricket tour of India from the grounds.’
Sky Sports were also asked to pay an additional sum to install television facilities but will instead broadcast from London, with live pictures fed from the the BCCI’s commercial partners, Star TV.
