BBC Scores Big With England Game

The BBC attracted a peak audience of 15.4m for its coverage of England’s last World Cup group game against Slovenia with a further 6m unique users visiting the broadcaster’s website during the game – a new online audience record.


The broadcaster’s TV audience peaked with an 81% audience share – the highest daytime audience of the World Cup to date while the match attracted an average of 12.9m viewers and a 78.2% audience share.


The broadcaster received 500,000 requests from people watching the match live on the iPlayer.


A total 1.5m people listened to the match via the site’s audio video, smashing its previous record of 1.2m set during last year’s Wimbledon match between Andy Murray and Andy Roddick.
