BBC secures five year Athletics Ventures deal

BBC Sport has secured a new five-year broadcast deal with Athletic Ventures for major UK athletics events, ensuring coverage until 2029.

The agreement will see world-class athletics, including the Novuna London Athletics Meet (Diamond League), the Novuna UK Athletics Championships, and the Novuna UK Athletics Indoor Championships, broadcast across BBC TV, iPlayer, and BBC Sport digital platforms, remaining free-to-air for the public. The partnership has included live and highlights coverage of these events.

This new partnership further strengthens BBC Sport’s existing athletics portfolio, which already includes the Olympic Games, World Athletics Championships, European Athletics Championships, Diamond League, and London Marathon.

Athletic Ventures, a joint venture comprising UK Athletics (UKA), The Great Run Company (GRC), and London Marathon Events (LME), was created to transform the future and growth of athletics in the UK and to deliver major athletics events.

This deal follows Athletic Ventures’ recent title partnership with Novuna. he partnership was also shortlisted for Business Moment of the Year at the 2025 FEVO Sport Industry Awards.
