The BBC will show every game of next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup after acquiring the rights to the tournament hosted by Canada from 6th June to 5th July.
Games will be broadcast across its BBC Two and BBC Three television channels, as well as the Red Button digital service.
The agreement expands the BBC’s commitment to the women’s game following its broadcast of the 2013 Uefa Women’s Championship, regular coverage of the domestic Women’s Super League and England internationals.
Barbara Slater, the BBC’s director of sport, said: ‘Our coverage of women’s football goes from strength to strength and there continues to be a strong appetite for it.’
England, who lost 3-0 to Germany at Wembley on Sunday, have never made it past the quarter-final stage of a World Cup but qualified for the 2015 finals with a 100% record.
The draw for Canada 2015 will be made in Ottawa on 6th December.
