BBC Unveils 2016/17 Football Coverage

BBC Sport has outlined its programming for the 2016/17 football season, which includes a new midweek Premier League magazine show fronted by Gabby Logan.

The new programme, The Premier League Show, will start on 25th August on BBC Two and will be presented from the Football Museum in Manchester and feature interviews with players from the Premier League and a regular feature with Gary Lineker discussing football topics. The first show will see former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright with Logan, and Lineker meeting Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.

The broadcasters offering will include six programme across the weekend, with Match of the Day every Saturday evening, Match of the Day 2 and MOTD Extra, an extended hour-long Football Focus with a new midday start from 10th September and Final Score returns with Jason Mohammad.

Analysis across all programmes will come from Alan Shearer, Ian Wright, Jermaine Jenas, Danny Murphy, Kevin Kilbane, Trevor Sinclair, Ruud Gullit, Robbie Savage, Martin Keown, Jason Roberts, Mark Lawrenson, John Hartson, Dion Dublin, Garth Crooks, Danny Mills, plus special guests throughout the season.

Additional presenters include Manish Bhasin, Jacqui Oatley and Eilidh Barbour, while aline-up of Match of the Day commentators includes Guy Mowbray, Steve Wilson, Jonathan Pearce, Simon Brotherton, Steve Bower and John Motson.

FA Cup coverage returns to the BBC in November with 16 matches across BBC One and BBC Two, as well as highlights of every round across all platforms.

The BBC will also continue its commitment to women’s football, including coverage from both domestic game and internationals. The Women’s Football Show returns to BBC Two, live coverage on BBC One of the FA Women’s Cup final next May, followed by the UEFA Women’s European Championship.
