Salford have competed in League Two, the fourth tier of English football, since 2019. The new consortium has raised an estimated $15–20m, which has been earmarked for infrastructure improvements and on-pitch development.

The club have set a target of reaching the Championship within the next five years.

Former stakeholders Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes have sold their shares but will retain roles within the club’s broader operations.

Ownership stakes within the new consortium are split between 5% and 10% per member, accounting for 80% of the club. The remaining 20% has been reserved for future strategic partners.

A chief executive recruitment process is now underway, with operational control to be handled independently of the consortium.

Beckham, commented, “I grew up in Salford. I have such fond memories of my time living there and the place and its people played such an important part in my early life in football.

“Salford City is at the heart of its community. It has a rich history and I am delighted to be a part of the next chapter.”

Neville, added, “I am passionate about Salford City. This is a unique partnership with a diverse range of minds and expertise, held together by a love of football. Football will come first, however, it’s critical that we drive the club towards sustainability in the next 4-5 years. I can’t wait for the next part of this journey.”
