Former England captain David Beckham is increasing his charitable profile by appearing in a TV advertising campaign for Malaria No More UK which will break during Sky Sports’ live coverage of the UEFA Champions League final next week.
The ad will run during the broadcaster’s coverage of the final between Manchester United and Barcelona on 27th May and coincides with the charity being chosen as recipient organisation for the ‘Sky Red Button’ campaign.
The spot features Beckham kicking a penalty into a net less goal with the aim of highlighting the need for mosquito nets to help prevent the spread of malaria in Africa.
Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD1 viewers can learn more about malaria and donate to the charity after pressing the red button on the evening of the final.
The charity was launched in April with a London event fronted by Beckham, who is a founding member of the leadership council for Malaria No More UK.
It aims to drive public awareness in the UK about the disease and that it is both preventable and treatable.
