Former England football captain David Beckham’s proposed loan move to AC Milan has forced his current club LA Galaxy to postpone their December tour of Australia.
With the Major League Soccer season over and not due to begin again until next March, Beckham is set to join the Italian club on loan in January to ensure he maintains fitness and consequently his place in the English national team.
This being the case, Beckham is unlikely to risk injury for a friendly match against the Australian side the Queensland Roar during LA Galaxy’s proposed tour.
‘We were not in a position to absolutely guarantee David Beckham’s availability,’ Galaxy’s business operations president Tom Payne said. ‘To avoid disappointment for the fans it was decided to postpone this game.’
LA Galaxy had been due to face the Queensland Roar on 11th December in Brisbane but have now postponed the fixture for a later date, yet to be confirmed.
However, the Galaxy will still play a 6th December fixture against an Oceania All Star team in Auckland, New Zealand.
