Benchmark Talent has announced that it will represent the personal commercial and media commitments of boxing legend Barry McGuigan, current world champion Carl Frampton and boxing coach and fitness expert Shane McGuigan.

Working alongside Cyclone Promotions, the agreement will cover speaking engagements, personal commercial partnerships, media and CSR development. Responsibility for fight specific promotion and sponsorship will remain with Cyclone Promotions.

Former world champion Barry McGuigan, who transcended the sport of boxing during his professional career with a principled stand against sectarian divides, will work with Benchmark Talent to develop his speaking opportunities and brand partnerships.  Having set up Cyclone Promotions Barry now mentors a stable of fighters including IBF Super-bantamweight world champion Carl Frampton, and is founder of the Barry McGuigan Boxing Academy.

The announcement comes ahead of Carl Frampton’s long awaited showdown with WBA world champion Scott Quigg on 27th February in Manchester. The fight will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Box Office and on Showtime in the US, as Frampton’s appeal continues to grow around the world.

As Carl’s coach Shane McGuigan is breaking the mould with his ability to cover all angles of training from sparring to strength & conditioning and nutrition. At only 27 he now trains Carl Frampton, David Haye and George Groves and the partnership with Benchmark will focus on media and partnerships as he continues to build an audience in his own right.

Barry McGuigan commented “We’re delighted to be working with Benchmark Talent in what is an incredibly exciting time for myself personally and for the world of boxing. In Shane and Carl, Cyclone Promotions have the future of the sport, Carl is attracting a huge following as world champion, while Shane is re-inventing the way that title-fighters are being trained.

“I’ve already seen some of the fantastic work that has been done at Benchmark Talent and we look forward to watching the relationship continue to grow in the future.”

Lisa Norman, executive director of Benchmark Talent, commented “We’re delighted to have three such fantastic personalities on board and are looking forward immensely to helping shape their personal brands and developing commercial opportunities as they go from strength to strength.”

The trio join the likes of Olympic sprinting legend Michael Johnson, Paralympic great Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Rugby World Cup winners Will Greenwood and Richard Hill, and former Olympics minister Baroness Tessa Jowell on the roster at Benchmark Talent.
