Benchmark Talent, the talent management arm of Benchmark Sport International, has announced that it will exclusively represent the personal commercial and media partnerships of former England and Sussex cricketer Matt Prior.
The agreement will cover personal commercial partnerships, media speaking engagements, and CSR development.
Bursting on to the scene with a maiden test century in 2007, Prior was renowned for his counter attacking force. As a wicketkeeper-batsman he was a member of three Ashes-winning teams, hit seven Test centuries, made 4,099 runs and 256 dismissals behind the stumps. In an England team that rose to number one in the International Cricket Council rankings he was widely seen as the linchpin, both on and off the pitch.
Since being forced into retirement by an Achilles injury in 2015 Prior has moved seamlessly into business, building ONE Pro Cycling which became the first British cycling team to progress to Professional Continental level in 2016. The team, backed by Aston Martin, has the ambition to progress to taking part in the biggest races in the cycling world such as the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana.

Commenting on the appointment, Matt Prior said: “Since retirement my focus has been 100% on ONE Pro, transferring the lessons of teamwork and leadership learnt in cricket to the business and cycling world. With that up and running I’m now looking forward to re-engaging with cricket, a game I’ve always loved and that can bring so much to young people.
“The experience that Benchmark Talent have around player transition and CSR development, plus the network of the wider Benchmark Sport International group, is something I’m incredibly excited to be a part of.”
Lisa Norman, executive director of Benchmark Talent, added: “Matt is the kind of sportsperson we love to work with. Someone who has developed a deep understanding of how teams work and how success can be achieved, and who post career has the vision and passion to seek out new challenges. We are honoured to be working with him in this next phase and look forward to new projects in cricket, media, youth development and beyond.”
Matt shared his experience of transitioning from an international sportsman to building a new cycling team at the Sport Industry Private Dining Club in September. Read more here.
